Robert F. Navarra Jr. 1974-2021 | News, Sports, Jobs
CORTLAND – Robert “Police officer” Navarra Jr., 47, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 21, 2021.
He was born on January 4, 1974 to Warren, son of Robert Navarra Sr. and Linda Allen Navarra. He attended Mathews Schools and graduated in 1992. Growing up he was somewhat athletic and excelled in football and basketball as a proud member of Mustang athletic organizations. He then obtained a degree in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University in 1996.
Over the years, Bob has made work / life balance a top priority. He preferred a bachelor lifestyle and lived primarily on hot sauce, cheese, gas station burritos, and Kellogg’s Cracklin ‘Oat Bran. He was a creative and driven project initiator, but he was often distracted by his next big dream. He was a free spirit who used to go where the wind took him. He enjoyed attending concerts and music festivals, camping in the quarry, meeting for floats on the river, relaxing with a fishing rod and surfing on a couch. He relished a simple way of life.
Bob was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved watching the games with his father and brothers, going to Heinz Field to feed himself the energy in person. He loved crying when the Steelers won, even if it was with a complete stranger. He called himself a movie buff, card and board game freak, and was known to get lost in a good book. He loved having big bonfires (even if that meant accidentally blowing up the neighborhood while lighting them) and casually strumming on his guitar.
He prided himself on being a kleptomaniac and pocketing as many lighters as possible during an outing. He liked to jog every now and then to nowhere in particular. His playlist would include tunes from the glory days – Audioslave or Metallica. He never missed an episode of South Park and loved to emulate Family Guy’s Quagmire. He was recently employed to transport the Amish and spent his time doing odd jobs. He loved botany and dreamed of becoming a farmer when he “grew up.”
Bob was a bright light and definitely “one of a kind.” He will be sorely missed. He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his parents, Robert Navarra Sr. and Linda Navarra of Cortland; sister, Melissa Mele of Brookfield; brothers, Michael Navarra (Jess Cox) of Warren and Joshua Navarra Sr. and Dan Navarra, both of Niles. He also leaves behind his beloved nephew, Joshua Navarra Jr .; and nieces, Brianna and Maleena Navarra. They’ll miss growing up with him and playing pranks on their uncle “Dumbass.”
He also leaves an extended circle of family and friends who simply know him as “Cousin Bob.”
A celebration of life (and the classic Bob style “Irish goodbye”) is scheduled for July 10, 2021 at Leon’s Sports Bar & Grill in Howland, 1111 Niles Cortland Road NE, Warren, OH44484, where family and friends can visit and pay tribute to family, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
