The Elder Scrolls Online could get a physical board game

It looks like an ESO board game could be in the works, although it won’t be released until 2022.
The Elder Scrolls Online appears to be working with Chip Theory Games on an unannounced project, according to a new series of cryptic tweets. CTG is a well-known board game designer popular for creations like Too Many Bones, Cloudspire, and Triplock – although it looks like The Elder Scrolls is joining their catalog soon.
Earlier this week, Chip Theory Games confirmed some sort of collaboration with Bethesda and Zenimax Online Studios. Tweeting a single image of the iconic ESO logo, the message reads: “More information to come 2022”. A link is then provided to register to receive notifications directly from Chip Theory.
The Elder Scrolls Online has a lot going on in 2021 – the Blackwood Chapter will launch in a few weeks – so it makes sense that the team doesn’t want to make any more announcements until things slow down with their popular MMO. . Still, we can’t help but wonder what an ESO board game would look like. Could it be a simple reskin of an existing game? Or something entirely new?
In any case, it is better not to be too excited. Neither company seems ready to discuss the game, and it looks like they won’t be until at least 2022.
Until then, you can try your hand at a bit of Orlog – the dice game from Assassin’s Creed that recently saw a full-fledged physical release. Only 500 units were made, but they look really impressive nonetheless.
You can also wait for the upcoming launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood Chapter. This expansion takes you back to Leyawiin of Oblivion and features a new questline brimming with political intrigue and murder mysteries. We recently had the chance to work on the game and found it to be another solid chapter in the ESO saga. The companion system is its outstanding feature, giving you the ability to call upon a follower of NPCs to accompany you on your adventures.
